After a brief inspection of the area from the aerial walkway, the Cubs set about building Dens to protect them from the elements (NOT elephants!!!). Sadly, the freak weather conditions tested their structures and some were found to be less weather-proof than others!

Well, we got showered on and the ball nearly hit us a couple of times, but the Saints didn’t let us down, beating Worcester 42-14 and securing a place in the play-offs in the process. A convincing victory, even if that did mean that most of the action was at the opposite end of the pitch! A good time was had by all.

1st Wootton Beavers, Cubs and Scouts will be getting together to attend this fabulous camp celebrating the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the hosting of the Olympics in the UK this Summer. Cubs and Scouts are invited to join us for the full bank holiday weekend for their chance to take part in a huge range of activities and spend three nights under canvas.

Was it really only a weekend? Archery, geocaching, den building, devious daleks, tag rugby, ghost stories and songs around the camp fire, TARDIS building, rifle shooting, rounders, a woodland Chapel service, jelly and water fights, the TARDIS ablaze, find Floppsy, capture the flag, sunshine, fresh air and a 1930′s School Sports Day complete with detentions for the unruly, prizes for the winners and sound thrashings for the losers. And the red tinsel wig? Don’t ask!

We’re taking part in Tesco Voucher Scheme for Schools and Clubs. We hope to collect as many vouchers as possible which we can use for some great new equipment.
You can collect Tesco vouchers from 12th March to the 20th May 2012.
You get:
- One voucher is given for every £10 spent in Tesco stores and petrol filling stations in a single transaction (excluding purchases from Consessions, Tobacco Kiosk, prescription medicines, infant formula or the sale of National Lottery tickets and scratch cards).
- One voucher is given for every £5 spent in Tesco Express stores (subject to the above exclusions).
- Recycle old cartidges and mobile phones. You’ll get 10 Tesco for Schools & Clubs vouchers for every empty inkjet cartridge sent in that can be recycled.
Traditionally schools do really well from these voucher collections (even though they get funding from Government) so please help us to collect as many as possible. Don’t forget to let anyone and everyone know that we’re taking Your efforts are really appreciated and make a huge difference.
Just bring your vouchers to your section leaders and they will make sure that they are all counted.

Active Kids is underway – and we need a team effort!
We’re taking part in Sainsbury’s Active Kids 2012. We hope to collect as many vouchers as possible which we can use for some great new equipment.
You can collect Active Kids vouchers from 15 February to 10 April. You’ll receive 1 voucher for every £10 spent at any Sainsbury’s main store or £5 spent in Sainsbury’s convenience stores. You’ll also receive vouchers for groceries online and at petrol stations, plus Nectar points can be turned into Active Kids vouchers too – visit nectar.com for details.

Well. we had a great day at the National Space Centre in Leicester. Special thanks go to our volunteer parent drivers – Joanna and Robert, without whom four of our Cubs would have been unable to join us. So, here are a few photos from what was a very enjoyable trip.
